Kuster C-42

Kuster C-42

A new concept in yachtbuilding should add something to what is already available. And in addition to a different exterior look, the new yacht should enhance comfort and safety, improve the use of space and offer an even more welcoming and private interior. The Kuster C-42 meets these goals and more.
For us, the starting point of a new design will always be people!

A yacht like this that can also cruise on open waters should sail as agreeably as possible and take in minimal water. And its manoeuvrability should not come at the expense of course stability. Our priority when developing the C-42 was to offer maximum sailing pleasure and a carefree life onboard.

    On Deck
The Kuster C-42 has all the characteristics of the other length Kusters: A flared hull, the eccentric sheer, the negative ‘boeisel’; all these features give this Kuster a sturdy but elegant exterior. The spacious aft deck provides open views over the water, while allowing all necessary communication with the helmsman. And the ergonomically positioned navigation equipment ensures comfortable sailing from the fixed steering position.

The windscreen with integrated and robust window wipers offers a great spot sheltered from wind and rain. The surrounding high guard rails and convenient hand rails provide a secure feeling on deck. From the aft deck, a fixed step leads to the side deck. This is sufficiently wide to provide an easy walk to the fore deck in order, for example, to lower the mast for clearance. Heavy stainless steel bollards are installed in all the right places for fixing numerous mooring ropes.

    Lounge
A lockable aluminium door leads from the aft deck to the lounge. The five steps are on the starboard side, creating valuable storage space. A settee with table, also serving as dinette, has been placed on a platform. This provides comfortable seating for six with generous outside views.

There are two deep drawers below the platform which can be used for charts or books. Several cupboards and drawers have been installed starboard with the option of adding an LCD television for indoor entertainment during sailing.

The engine room is situated below the lounge floor, and can be reached via a well insulated hatch and stainless steel stair. Completely insulated, it is equipped with lighting to allow for day and night inspections. The sturdy six-cylinder Vetus Deutz diesel engine is located in the centre and surrounded by the auxiliary systems, making for easy maintenance.

    Galley / Office
Descending from the lounge, to starboard is the galley with an L-shaped working surface. There is plenty of cupboard space as well as several drawers for cutlery. For longer onboard stays, you could neatly fit a washing machine/dryer combination behind the door. The working surface is ergonomically designed with lots of workspace and a smartly positioned cooker and sink.

The open character of the Kuster C-42’s interior allows direct contact between the lounge and galley. Portside, opposite of the galley, is the office with a large work top for maps, books and, of course, a laptop.

    Owners Cabin / Wet Cell
The spacious owner’s cabin with head and shower is located below the aft deck. Although all the space is purposefully used, there is still plenty of head room. The centrally positioned king-size bed is adjacent to the mirror containing two escape hatches. There is a useful drawer below the bed. Both sides of the bed have a small step for easy access. There are wall units to starboard (including hanging space) and port.

The wet cell is complete with an electric head and sink. The shower stall is separate and can be closed off with a safety glass door. The shower is provided with an additional seat for comfortable showers in all conditions. A mixer tap for hot/cold water and storage space in the head have been installed for additional ease. There is plenty of ventilation and natural light thanks to six hinged portholes and the easily accessible escape hatches.

    Guest Cabin and Toilet
The guest cabin with ample changing room is situated in the forepeak. There is plenty of storage space for clothes and shoes opposite of a bunk bed on the portside. The beds come standard with slat bases and thick mattresses. Extra changing comfort is provided by a padded seat, below which is a drawer for laundry. The well-situated escape hatch and two portholes provide daylight.

On the portside of the guest cabin is a spacious guest head, which helps gives this Kuster its unique character. There is an electric head, large sink and plenty of storage space for towels.
